trick or treat!

we had a blast trick or treating!! and then had even more fun passing out candy! they both ran screaming if a kid came to the door wearing a mask. malloy told me her favorite thing about tonight was 'passing out candy to nobody who was scary". after trick or treating, we watched one halloween show and then went to bed!!

malloy woke up from nap and went right for her treat bag. she's trying every piece of candy she got. she came over to me so i'd open sweetarts for her and said with a big grin "i'm eating quite a bit of candy!"
when rex woke up, we carved some pumpkins!

rex carved his pumpkin (on the left) with grandma val  and i carved malloy's . she drew her own face and i carved what she drew. her pumpkin is whistling!

the kids had their halloween parties this morning at school. malloy did great singing all of her halloween songs! rex looked like a deer in headlights. it was great! the kids are currently napping so that they can wake up and eat their treats from their parties and then go trick or treating!! 

we had a fun morning!! the kids did some more halloween crafts with grandma val while i made pumpkin pancakes for breakfast. then we had a  last minute playdate at our house. school was cancelled so we got to see our friends brooke and safina, who we don't get to see at playdates anymore!! the girls played so nice together today!! and poor ben was trying to play with rex but he just wanted to play with the big girls and, of course, KENADEE! poor kid, she was tormented by rex two days in a row!! i didn't take any pictures today, apparently!! the kids went down for a late nap. it took malloy a while to fall asleep, i had to go take some toys away from her that she was playing with in her bed. she slept in her ballet outfit - shoes and all. rex was still awake at 3:45. i went in several times to take toys away. finally i went in and shut off his white noise and left the door open. i didn't say anything to him but assumed he would come out. he was quiet for a very long time so i went to check on him and he had passed out. little stinker! after nap, we went out to dinner with grandma, neal, uncle paddy, and auntie andy!! it was somewhere new - ruzzine's rock bottom eatery. very good food and they had fun halloween decorations inside! 

we got home late and went right to bed! 

cupcakes are all ready for rex's school party tomorrow! 

this morning, our friend kenadee came over to play while malloy went to school with jamie and gianna. rex had a blast with his best bud!! (i don't know if she feels the same - rex gets a bit aggressive with her - hugging, kissing, petting, smothering...) he said the other day "kenadee is my best friend. i love her and i want to hug her and hug her and hug her."  they played nice together at times. kenadee was hilarious - "come on, rexy boy, let's play!" "rex harris come make soup!" they were BUSY!!!! towards the end of the 3 hrs, i had to warn rex that if he didn't give kenadee some space, he was going to have to go in his room alone. he just couldn't stop goading her! 

after nap, the kids did some crafts with grandma while i got dinner ready. we're expecting a big storm tonight. hurricane sandy is causing a lot of trouble on the east coast. hopefully the kids sleep through these high winds tonight and we don't lose power!
