malloy just came in from the playroom, stirring something pretend in her bowl:
malloy: "i'm tasting something pretty sweet, mama."
me: pretty sweet, huh?
malloy: yeah, it's carrot porridge. mmm it's still pretty sweet.

let me add that while she's doing this she's only wearing a tshirt, underwear, and wellies!

rex is right there with her stirring something of his own on a plate. he comes out pretending to drink a soda and offering me some.
