what a day! after they gym, we took off rex's diaper and started day one of potty training!! the good news: he knows when he has to pee. the bad news: he didn't want to go on the potty. he would sit for a few seconds and then say he was all done. i cleaned a LOT of pee off the floors today! rex loved wearing his new toy story underwear and was very upset when i took off a wet pair because he really wanted to be wearing those underwear. malloy tried to be a good helper and would go potty a few times with him for encouragement. we all spent a lot of time together so that i could monitor rex and catch him when he peed. we did a lot of drawing and puzzles - it was good to sit and spend time with them! another highlight of the day was the new highlights magazine in the mail. malloy was thrilled and we had to read it immediately. she's getting so much better at finding the hidden pictures - they're her favorite.
uncle ryan came over for dinner tonight. yesterday, malloy requested that daddy bring uncle ryan over and then we could go out to dinner. since rex is potty training, we're not leaving the house. we had a cook-out instead. neal came home a bit later and malloy was getting very whiny because she was hungry. i made her a quick mac and cheese and when she was eating it, she told me "i'm not cranky anymore, mommy. i feel better now because i took some bites."

malloy spent a good half hour dictating what she wanted me to draw. this is her in her bed, rex in his crib, and mommy and daddy in their bed. on the side of malloy and rex's beds are their baby dolls. then she added 2 babies in mommy and daddy's room - a boy and a girl. let's hope she's not psychic!
