 we went to the depot to have dinner and hear some music. the kids loved running over the train tracks and playing on the train.

 malloy was all about posing. she wanted to pose in front of "the nicest house on the street" she was cracking me up!!

 rex woke up with a rash all over. we had no idea what it was!!! i'm thinking maybe it was a reaction to an antibiotic

malloy, grandma val and i went to bella's dance recital! she got student of the year! 

 we went to the binghamton mets field of dreams game with our tball team. it was the kids' first baseball game! they had no interest in the game but LOVED the food, music and fireworks! before the game, all the local baseball teams went out on the field.

 these were rex's first fireworks and malloy's in a very long time. they loved them!!!

 the rash/hives got worse!

 we had family over for dinner on a sunday. roro, papa, grandpa don and grandma val came for turkey dinner! then aunt amy and kassie came over for some pie. we ended up watching malloy's play  and dance recital videos and that rolled into all home videos, including malloy's jingle bells video!!! it was a fun time!!

 i gave these post its to malloy one morning before school and she immediately made me a scavenger hunt. it ended with "i love you" it was so super sweet!

rex wanted to get malloy off the bus by himself. he told me "don't worry mom, i'll get malloy off the bus, you can go back inside" such a sweetheart!

 we set up a craft center with a bunch of recycleables. hours of entertainment!!!

 i signed up for face painting at the end of year field days at the kids' school so i got out some face paints and practiced! i also got practiced on...

 we finally planted the magnolia tree in remembrance of grandma tappy!!! the kids were great helpers!

rex got to lead the pledge for the last morning meeting! he did great!

 the kids are all done with tball. we had an amazing coach and assistant coaches as well as a great team!!! the kids all played with each other before and after the games and all got along so well! after our last game, we had pizza and treats and then the kids got to throw water balloons at the coach - which turned into a giant water balloon fight! the kids all got baseballs signed by the coaches. so sweet!!!

last day of school! 

rex had a graduation ceremony in the morning. they wore little caps and gowns and walked to pomp and circumstance - definitely had tears in my eyes saying goodbye to rex's wonderful teacher!!!

malloy came home from school the second to last day of school and was i tears as soon as she got off the bus. she was devastated that school was ending!! she said "i just cant wait a whole 60 days until i go back to school!!!" i asked her who told her it was 60 days and she said "well there's 30 in a month and we're off for 2 months!!!" such a smartie pants!  the last day of school was rough for her, too. she reported that she cried 5 times in school. her teacher said they were looking at their portraits from the first day of school and malloy crawled up on her lap in tears! they cried together because mrs. woods is a crier, too!!

while malloy was finishing her last day of school, rex and i went with grandma val to lunch at great grandpa everett's house. rex was amazing!!! he was coloring with aunt diane and chatting with all his great aunts and uncles without me even in the room! he has never acted like this!!! he has been so grumpy for , it feels like, the past year!!!! he's turned a corner and is more cooperative (although i'm still a mean mommy at least once a day!), more sociable, and just overall happy! i later talked to the dr. about his mood change and she reported that in a month and a half, he had grown and inch and a half and gained 2 lbs!!!!! he was growing and was grumpy!!!!! makes me dread the next growth spurt!!!!! yikes!!!

when the last day of school was over, we headed over to highland park for a granduation party for melissa's son, matt. we had a great time!!! yummy food, a live band, a super fun playground! what more can you ask for??!!

when we got home from the party, we decided to catch some fireflies! it was a huge hit and we all had a great time chasing them and tracking them and catching them with their nets!!! 

sunday morning, rex was up and asking to do some of his book from school. i gave it to him and he got right to work!!! 

father's day at roro and papa's

we had a father's day brunch and roro's and papa's and then we had a father's day bbq at our house. apparently i didn't take too many pictures!! woops! 

we started our first week off of school by traveling to buffalo to visit friends!!! we played with gianna and kenadee for a while and then headed over to safina and emery's to have dinner and play for a bit. it was great to see everyone and the kids all got along like we never left! 

tuesday morning, the kids just hung out and played while jamie went to a meeting. as soon as she left, rex told me his throat really hurt and sure enough there were white spots! YUCK! we tried to go to a walk in clinic but would have had to pay a bunch, so we ended up packing up and going back home. it was terrible. and sad. malloy and gianna were hugging each other and sobbing. what a whirlwind! but at least we got to see friends for a bit!!

i felt so bad that we had to leave that when we stopped at the rest stop for gas, we had ice cream and i let them each spend a dollar in quarters on the grabber machine to try and win a stuffed animal. after we played it, rex was yelling "that game is a trick!" as people were walking by giggling. the kids were great travelers both up and back!!! they were so exhausted on the way home that they slept for 2 hrs! we were almost home and rex lost it. he had his head in a bag because he thought he was going to be sick and was just feeling terrible in general! when we got home he was sobbing in neal's arms. he had a bunch of ginger ale and popsicles and some medicine and was calm gain! poor kiddo!

we went to the dr. and rex had sinusitis and tonsillitis and was put on meds. we discussed possibly getting this tonsils removed. we shall see! 

so far, the kids have been really great at entertaining themselves! we did puzzles one morning - their own idea! we'll see how long this lasts! 

we made lists of things we want to do this summer!

this wasn't on their list, but our first big outing was the grocery store! woot! malloy was my little shopper - she was in charge of produce and dairy. taking both of these yahoos added an hour onto my shop time, but we made the most of it! they had a snack at the deli counter, some balogna and cheese and bread. then we needed a drink, so we got some gatorade. picked out some snacks in between. it was too bad overall! it's been raining like crazy!!!! if it could stop, we could get on with our summer!!
