April catch-up

 april fools! i made the kids "grilled cheese" using poundcake and frosting and "broccoli" out of fruit chews, frosting and sprinkles. they weren't sure it was funny or disgusting!

 we went out to dinner at red lobster with aunt kari, uncle ryan, bella and addy and grandpa gary to celebrate malloy's birthday, then headed over to sweet frog for dessert.

happy 7th birthday malloy!!! she got a screen, a vanity, and a guitar!! not too shabby!!! she kind of had an underwhelming reaction to the guitar but then a bit later, she was sitting on neal's lap, got teary-eyed, and she said "i'm just so happy".

for her birthday dinner, malloy wanted chinese food. we ordered take-out so we could go to lego night (her choice!)

i went to morning program and got a surprise cup stacking championship show!! malloy was the winner in her class so she got to go head to head with the winner from the other first grade classes and she WON! then she went head to head with the winner from kindergarten, the winning teachers (her teacher, mrs. ceruti!) and the principal. and she WON the whole thing!!!! she's a cup stacking champ!

PARTY TIME! this year malloy wanted a spa party with her two best friends, Iris and Cecelia. It was a success!

malloy and i went out and had some mother/daughter shopping time. she used up her birthday money on a toy, a dress, a shirt, and some shoes. we also stopped and got some dunkin donuts - coffee for me and a strawberry shortcake donut and coolata for malloy.

first day of tball! the kids were so excited to have daddy as the "coach coach"

we had a 60th wedding anniversary party for roro and papa at our house. the day before, we stopped at roro's to do her nails so they'd be pretty for the party! malloy wanted to do it herself. grandma val needed very much to correct the nail polish. malloy was NOT happy about it and i got a great shot of her face reacting to the situation.

the day after the recital, malloy came home from school with a terrible ear ache. we got a dr. appt right away and it turns out it's just terrible allergies! the ear ache didn't last. 

rex has been very much into drawing mario characters lately! he did an awesome job!! he now has neal draw him a picture every night of a different mario character so he can color it in the morning.

i looked at rex and it had looked like he had grown about 5 inches overnight!!!! he's all limbs! no more chubba bubba at all. it's crazy! i kept looking at him the entire day - it just blew my mind!!

neal and i went away for the weekend and the kids got to hang out with grandma and grandpa! they had a great time! they went to dinner with roro, papa, and aunt amy to celebrate aunt amy's birthday. then, on saturday, they brought chinese food to grandma's friend, eileen, and fed the fish at her pond. then back home for movie night! rex went to his buddy, leland's, birthday party on sunday and we were back in time to pick him up! he had a great time! while he was at the party, grandma and grandpa took malloy shopping and got her a new dress and purse!
