first weeks of september

these two munchkins got up TOO early and cuddled in my bed for a bit before getting ready for school. they really can be so sweet when they want. usually for the first 5 minutes in the morning...

 rex came home from school with this little poem today! of course, i cried!

Jamie planned a spur of the moment trip to come visit on Friday night!  we met up at a hotel in vestal at about 7:30ish. everyone was so excited to see each other! from the minute we got in the hotel room it was absolute chaos. so nothing's changed! the kids were running around, jumping from bed to bed, screaming, rex was annoying everyone. we wondered quickly why we thought it was a good idea! ;) BUT, we had a fantastic weekend filled with swimming, food, haircuts, food, and the discovery center!! thanks so much for making the trip girls, it was much needed! 

after we said goodbye on sunday, we headed to roro and papa's to visit. it's so nice to be able to stop over and visit!! they caught up on the first week of school info and then played in the yard and under the deck for a bit. then it was root beer float time!!!! it was a wonderful sunday visit!

so true! just so happens it was grandparent's day when we were visiting! 

 monday was back to school! they were both ready and excited!

 rex got home and we spent the whole day together! we ate lunch, played with legos, laid in the grass and looked at the shapes in the clouds, and played a board game! i don't know if i've ever spent so much time with just him!!!

 rex and i went out to lunch at tony's while grandma got her nails done. he got his most favorite thing ever - meatballs!

 after lunch, rex had his first gymnastics class! he LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!! he was so happy that grandma and i could watch!

Malloy's first day of kindergarten!

it was malloy's turn for first day of school pics! she was so excited to go!!! she made up her own hairstyle, too! she had a great day and came off the bus saying "i LOVE kindergarten!" she sat, ate the rest of her lunch, and told me all about her day, from start to finish! she did sit ups and push ups and gym and has a friend names cecelia! 

we had a bit of a rough night. malloy was exhausted and cranky and downright mean at times!!! rex was all over the place and i was an emotional wreck! it was early bedtimes for everyone!

rex's first day of UPK!

rex had a great first day of school! he got on the bus no trouble and came out smiling! he will only tolerate a few questions before he shuts down completely and starts growling at you! he needs to tell you at his own pace about school, it's frustrating for him to try and remember every little detail. 

 malloy missed her first day of kindergarten. i was bummed and she was bummed but we all handled it a lot better than i expected! what can you do? life goes on! we went to meet the teacher the day before and malloy had been up all night with a cough and stuffy nose. she kept telling me her belly hurt and i thought she had to go to the bathroom and was having trouble because i gave her ibuprofen. we went in to see her classroom, meet friends and the teacher. we were there for about 3 minutes before malloy threw up all over me, the floor, and the bathroom! yikes!! i think she had a lot of boogers and some nerves/excitement mixing about in there! i don't think the teacher will ever forget malloy!!! so we played palace pets until it was time to go get rex.

neal worked the rest of the day and then was back to buffalo to do a little more work on the house and to go to work there for a few days. we went to aunt amy's for a lasagna dinner (which malloy LOVED!) and got some new books to borrow from her. 3 of them were huggly books! we LOVE huggly! it was a very exciting night!!
