valentines on the door!

for the month of february, i put a heard on the kids' door every night saying something that i love about them. malloy remembered this from last year and talked about it all through the month of january! rex would wake up almost every morning and literally burst into tears and/or get very angry about the color of his heart on his door. it got to the point where for him, i had to ask him what color heart he wanted the next day and what it should say so that he wouldn't wake up and be in a terrible mood!! 

wednesday 3/12: blizzard #2 of 2014! the kids had a snow day!!! we ran to wegmans quick to get some milk and some other supplies! 

we had some yummy salads for lunch!

then malloy made some shamrock cookies. she loved doing everything herself! she sprinkled flour down, rolled the dough, scooped the cookies and put them on the cookie sheet! i was impressed!!

thursday 3/13: it was back to school for malloy! then we hung out at home. i put together a fun make your own salad station for the kids. they loved it and thought it was so fun to put what they wanted in their salads!

friday 3/14: this afternoon, we spent some time outside painting the snow! it was pretty fun! 

we got new blankets today!!! it was better than christmas for them - they were super super excited. these are the same blankets that grandma tappy has at her house! malloy picked pink and we got a blue one for rex. both kids have been waking up way too much at night and sometimes it's just because they need their blankets fixed. so i got blankets that i could tuck all the way under the mattress so that they can't get tangled and need help. let's hope it works!!!!

rex came out and said "do you like my hair?" with a pillow on his head. goofball

we played outside all afternoon because it was 50 degrees and sunny out! it was so so nice to be out in the sunshine and get fresh air!! we did some chalk tattoos and drawings, played hopscotch, collected sticks, played with guys in the snow, and ran around!!! 

rex was being the DreamWorks boy in the moon - the jack frost in the moon from rise of the guardians to be exact

i traced malloy's shadow. she then colored it in and "decorated herself just like elsa" the blue things hanging down under her arms are part of her dress.

after school on monday, kenadee jumped in the van to give rex a kiss. he was dodging her and she was NOT happy about it!!! too cute! 

rex's new favorite toy is the emtpy cheeseball bucket! he's been playing with it for days. one day it was an aquarium and he kept adding different sea creatures to it. another time it was a drum. in this case, he's stashing his stuffed animals in it! 

friday 3/7: it was dr. suess apparel day for malloy. we had nothing so i quickly threw a white felt circle on one of her red shirts and voila! thing 1! perfect! 

rex woke up and went right to work on his masterpiece. he didn't even ask to watch tv! (those are usually the first things out of his mouth!)

it was close to 50 degrees and sunny in the afternoon. malloy suggested a zoo trip and i couldn't think of any reason not to! we all needed some fresh air!! it was great! until both of them got tired and their feet were tired of walking! the great thing about having a zoo pass is we can go whenever we want and i don't feel bad about cutting a trip short!

daddy brought home left over chicken wings - malloy's favorite! she was so excited! 

 saturday 3/8: malloy went to her friend, ellen's, birthday party at skyzone! what a fun time!!!

in the afternoon, malloy asked if they could play beach. so we broke out some bathing suits, chairs, and towels! i don't know how they weren't freezing!!!

 sunday 3/9: the kids played beach again and were in their bathing suits before i even woke up! rex wore his suit all day! i made malloy take hers off because her lips were turning purple! daddy was doing taxes, so we kept busy with crafts! first we tried to make shamrocks by cutting paper, gluing all around a shamrock sticker, then pouring the paper bits over the glue! it was a long fun task but didn't turn out how i hoped. key word - fun!

we took a quick clean up break before the next craft!
