First time writing her name on her own!

Out of the mouths of babes

Today Malloy told me "you look pretty, mama." Rex immediately follows with "you look like cow." He probably just doesn't want me to get a big head ;)

On the way to grandma tappy and grandpa gary's house, we went by the horse track. Malloy told neal "I think the girl horse is going to win tonight."

Then as we're almost there she says "guys, we need to go back to buffalo because I forgot pinkie!" I assured her that we packed her!!

Cut 'em

We're sitting at dinner having a nice conversation. Malloy was talking about all the big kids at the pool today. She wasn't a fan of the older kids being so rowdy at the pool. So she tells neal "maybe we can cut em." Neal asked her what she meant and she explained "Maybe we can cut em with a knife because I don't like them."  I have no idea where she gets this stuff. I broke down and tried to pass it off like I was laughing at Rex. I'm still laughing! her dead serious expression on her face was priceless. If this talk continues it will definitely not be funny!!!

Rex has my imagination!

Rex has been running out of the playroom, bedroom, kitchen, into the living room screaming "the monster's comin'!!!" With a terrified look on his face. He gets it in his head that there really is a monster that's going to get him. I'm 30 and still do the Sam thing with ghosts or anything that could be lurking in the dark!

we went swimming again today at island park. this time with puddle jumpers!! malloy was following gianna around and asking her to show her how to swim. pretty soon, malloy was calling to me to watch her. and she was swimming! kicking her feet and zooming around the pool!! she was beaming! so proud of herself. i was proud of her too!! rex liked his puddle jumper, too! he loved when i'd pull him around while he was floating on his back! we had a picnic lunch and swam a little longer and then i was time to go home! malloy did GREAT leaving the pool when it was time! she was a great listener! hooray! then she had a meltdown in the car because i told her that we weren't going to watch tv when we got home. they were both VERY tired and a bit cranky! they finally settled down in their room and then malloy started calling me. i went in and she asked "mommy, are you sleepy?" then rex pops his head up and asks "mama, are you tired?" they make me laugh!

after dinner, i got out some food toys and utensils i found in the basement. they had so much fun playing with these!! remind me to just bag up some toys and just slap a bow on them come christmas time! ;)

it was a hot one today! we went to the gym first thing in the morning and then met our friends, gianna and kenadee, at island park to go swimming! rex loved the water - he had no fear. at one point, he was out in the middle and went under. and couldn't get back up! he kept trying and falling back under. it felt like it went on for a half hour, it was probably 30 seconds. jamie got to him first and got him on his feet. he was totally fine! a little stunned, but no crying or anything! malloy loved the water as well. she was trying her hardest to float with gianna, but didn't have the puddle jumper on that gianna did! she wanted one so bad, and after rex's incident, i decided that puddle jumpers wouldn't be a bad idea! so, we went out after nap, ran a few errands, and got the kids each a puddle jumper! it's back to the pool again tomorrow!

sidebar: malloy has been going to bed late every night for quite a while now. usually not until 9 or 9:30. we say goodnight and then the kids chat and sing for a bit. i know rex would go right to sleep without malloy's shenanigans! but he plays for a bit and then goes to sleep. malloy stays up, sometimes being really quiet and then an hour or and hour and a half later, she calls out that she has to go potty. i'd just really like her to go to bed!!!! i tried waking them up early from nap so that they'd go to bed early. rex fell asleep earlier but malloy really didn't. maybe about 10 minutes before 9.

really wish this wasn't blurry! we went through the carwash for the first time today. i thought the kids would LOVE it! especially rex! but it freaked him out even though i was explaining everything that was happening.
