August Part 1

birthday party time for rex! he wanted a lego party and a lego/camo cake.

  dinner at grandpa gary and grandma tappy's! filled with toad and insect fun!

this cake was a complete and utter disaster but rex loved it anyway and had a blast putting his lego guys in "the mud"! 

 shout out to grandma val and grandpa don for making most of the lego decorations!

we love you, too, bella! 

 we did a little reiki after the party! malloy was very interested in it and was trying to learn!

back to buffalo! rex LOVES his new legos! 

burying St. Joseph to help sell our house! 

 cottage time!!!! we went up to the root cottage again this year!  the kids had so much fun in the sand and water  with friends!

back home again! malloy picked her own outfit here!

 getting ready for a fun day with friends! jamie to the rescue! she took the kids for a fun filled day of picnics, playground, and water park! THANK YOU! you're a lifesave!!! i got the kitchen cabinets painted so they were more neutral.

 malloy woke me up this morning by throwing a hair tie in my face and telling me to put her hair in a pony tail. that earned her a day to figure out how to do her own hair! she figured it out quick!

rex's antics

i put rex in his room for sticking his tongue out at me. i came to get him out and his pillow was thrown out into the hallway in front of his shut door. i asked him why and he:
replied with a shrug "i was trying to get you in trouble."
i asked "oh yeah? how?"
 he said "the armies would see it and think it was yours."
 me: "what armies"?
rex: oh, the armies way way way down in the village.

hmmmm....ok then.

as i'm typing this, he's now in his room singing "runaway toys make some noise" over and over again. it's his new song. it's the second single off of his new album. the first single is called "wrong bed" - it's a metal song with the only lyrics being 'wrong bed'.

weekend fun!

friday 7/25: we did some outside art today. experimenting with colored bubbles and tried to make some paintings. it was a bit windy and the bubbles were blowing away! we drew with chalk for a bit and then i made a game for them to play. they had to find the path of same colored circles from on end of the driveway to the next. it kept them busy for at least a half hour!  

we went to zhang's for dinner. it was malloy's pick - she LOVES chinese food! her favorite dish there is the coconut shrimp. rex also likes that he can pick out what he wants to eat. especially the jello! 

 saturday 7/26: we had a fun morning!!! we went down to the farmer's market and bought some molasses cookies (the favorite pick for 4 years in a row!) and do a craft. they made magic wands! after the market, we took a walk through glen park, in the streams and up some rocks. then, the glen park art festival was going on, so we walked around and looked at the booths, got some popcorn, and then sat in the shade and ate a hot dog and some chips while listening to live music. after the festival, the walk for hunger was going on at island park and there were fun activities for kids! malloy loved bouncing in the bounce house and running in a relay race! rex loved eating the "rainbow"- different colored fruits and veggies- to win a prize. before we left, both kids got their face painted.  it was fun morning full of surprises! we finally got home around 1pm!

sunday 7/27: the kids had a cozy morning on the couch with their stuffed animals. they love to play with their animals! and this if only half of them - the other half is packed away. this afternoon we went to island park to swim and play at the park. rex is swimming really fast these days!!! and malloy is trying really hard to do the monkey bars. it's been her goal all summer. she's getting a few bars on her own now!!

 tonight, we were all sitting on the couch reading bedtime books. rex was in between me and neal. he started squirming and said "dad! i'm getting hot of you!" neal was making him hot, i love the words that he chooses sometimes!!! ha!
