Valentine week!

malloy brought out one of her cabbage patch kids and threw it on the floor near the basement door. she told me i could get rid of it because she didn't want it anymore. rex came running out distraught! "NOOOOO! don't get rid of her, i need her, she's my baby!" he named her "hair-hair" and loves her. it's hilarious!

grandma val and grandpa don came up to visit for valentine's day! they kids were thrilled with all of their valentine loot!

malloy's school had a family valentine's dance. there were games, face painting, balloons, food, and, of course, a dance with a dj and everything! grandma and grandpa came with us to hang out. malloy was so cute with her little friends, running around and dancing.

malloy is constantly asking what she can do next. i came up with animal doctor! rex was the animal rescuer and would bring injured animals to malloy so she could fix them up! she loved it! i gave her some gauze, bandaids, and fingernail clippers in addition to her doctors kit - she was so excited to be using real supplies. i also made her a little chart with pictures of all the animals so at the end, she could go through them all again and check to see if they were all healed up. it was a great way to keep her busy for an hour or two!

weekend: 2/7 - 2/9

friday: i was supposed to have a teacher conference with rex's teacher then take the kids to wegmans and come home for lunch naps. we were at school for over an hour - the kids played in the playroom - and mrs. v still wasn't ready for me! we were all starving so we left and went to wegmans. we grabbed a quick lunch before the kids went to W kids. it was so busy in the cafe that we sat in the conference room! the kids thought it was super cool. 

out to dinner at brew pub! 

 i took malloy to a mommy and me cooking class. she was so excited! we made pizza bites and amaretto cheesecake! yum! she was so proud of herself for doing herself. later, when we were eating it at home she said "thank you, me! your welcome, me!" thanking herself for making yummy food!

after the cooking class and a very quick nap, malloy was ready to go to her friend jordan's monster high brithday party! she had fun playing with her friends!!! they played a lot of ring around the rosy and legos and dolls!

while i took malloy to her party, neal took rex to his friend, joseph's, birthday party! what a fun place! rex was a bit out of sorts i guess. the bounce house was too loud, he was skittish about going down the bigger slide, but i think he had a little bit of fun!! 

malloy is my little busybody! she doesn't like down-time unless she's parked in front of the tv or computer. she was saying "what can i clean? come on, mommy let's clean!" so i let her clean the bathroom! she did pretty good, too!! she also went around and vacuumed the house.

we made some yummy soft pretzels!!! something different and fun!

it has been a very cold winter with temperatures often in the negatives with the windchill. too cold to play outside! we're getting a little stir crazy being indoors so much!!! so i decided to set up some bath time fun! the kids had a blast making bubbles and eruptions. they were in the tub for an hour! i had two very wrinkly kiddos when they got out!! 

good-bye pull-ups!!!! (i hope!!)

last week, rex started waking up between 3am and 6am to go to the bathroom. on friday, i noticed that his pull-up was completely dry in the morning. he's woken up dry the past 4 mornings!!! i think we may be done with pull-ups at night!!! something just clicked! we're keeping pull-ups on for a few more days and then we'll switch to underwear. i'm super proud of him and so excited to not have to buy pull-ups anymore!! rex is very excited to start wearing underwear to bed!

malloy has been into working out lately! she does yoga videos, dance videos and even my 30 day shred video. she was begging for her own set of weights, so i went and got her 2 lb weight of her own. i think she's feeling so cooped up because it's cold out and needs an outlet to get her energy out! good for her!!! 

 February 2nd: HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEN! we went to our friend, ben's, 3rd birthday party today. he had a star wars theme - so fun! - and a bounce house in the basement!

they loved all the party favors and were kept busy for quite some time while mommy and daddy watched the superbowl!
