summer's back!

wednesday 8/28: it was HOT! we played outside this afternoon before going to rex's hot dog mixer for school. they kids had a blast! rex met some new friends that will be in his class, but he didn't really seem to care much. he was off and running with his pal, kenadee! those two might be trouble in the same class! ;) 

the kids played their little hearts out on the playground, got their faces painted, and enjoyed some treats! 

today: we went to the gym this morning and then headed out to the west seneca splash pad with some friends. the kids had so much fun!!! we decided on our way home and that we'd go visit grandma and grandpa at uncle paddy's house for a bit. it was fun filled day!!! 

welcome back, pull-ups!

so, we tried for 4 nights, waking rex up twice a night to pee, and he STILL woke up wet! i was not getting much sleep and i just don't think he's ready, so hello pull-ups! may we all get a little more sleep!

rex has been staying dry at naps and occasionally at night. the other night, i was putting him to bed and we went to go potty. he said "i already did" and pointed to his pull-up. he had just peed in it out of convenience. so i wanted to see what would happen if he didn't have one on! we started on sunday night but we haven't had a dry night yet. i get him up to pee once or twice in the middle of the night but he still manages to have enough to be wet in the morning!!! we'll keep going with it and see what happens!

Rex's birthday weekend

saturday 8/24: we spent the morning and grandma tappy and grandpa gary's. the kids went for a walk with grandma and daddy, built with blocks, got to run grandpa's trains, and watched some shows. then we went to grandma val and grandpa don's to nap before rex's birthday party! 

we had a super fun superhero party!! it was so fun to see so much family sporting superhero apparel! rex got some really fun toys from everyone! 

after the party, rex played with malloy and bella and with all of his new toys. then we had a fire and watched some fireworks! what a fun birthday!

sunday 8/25: we had a fun morning outside at grandma and grandpa's. the kids played with bubbles, swung on the tire swing, put a new mushroom in the woods for the fairies, and picked some peaches! after lunch, we said goodbye to grandma and grandpa and went to visit grandpa bruce for a bit. then it was off to buffalo!!

i got malloy and rex composition notebooks at the store. she immediately called it her diary and started writing in it!

 we played games after the gym, ate lunch, had some quiet time, went outside to play until dinner, and then it was time for bed! made for a quick day!

we met one of our neighbors today. he just had a baby girl a few days ago and came over to borrow some chalk. he's a photographer and needed it for some photos. later, malloy asked me "was he the king?" i had no clue what she was talking about. i asked her to explain why she asked that. she said "remember you were talking about the king and queen had a baby? is that the king?" she was talking about prince william and princess kate. they just had a baby boy last month and malloy remembered us all talking about it. she really doesn't miss anything!

8/17: i had the color run in the morning. the kids stayed home with neal and cleaned out some of their toys. then they went to the park for a bit. in the afternoon, we went to a party at neal's friend's house. there were a bunch of kids there. malloy was more interested in the swingset. she must have stayed on the swings for about 45 minutes straight!! rex made some friends and was playing with them on the swingset. after the party, we went to dinner at honey's. there were tvs in every booth - the kids thought that was very cool!

 sunday 8/18: we had a nice quiet day. the kids made a fort and watched a movie with neal. we went swimming in the afternoon - it was a bit cold, but apparently it was the last day that the pools are open so i'm glad we went!

today, we went to the gym and then i cleaned and organized the house! the kids were being really good, doing puzzles and playing with each other. neal worked late, so we went to the playground for a bit after dinner. we came back and watched a show and relaxed before bedtime. we rearranged the furniture in the living room and moved the chair back in. i came in and found both of the kids in the chair all snuggled up together. they're so cute!!!

he woke up and said "how did you know it was my birthday?!"

rex had a great birthday!!! he woke up to balloons covering his bedroom floor! he was so excited! i was up the night before looking up how to make balloon animals online. he LOVED them. i think he liked them more than his presents! he carried them everywhere! he had requested blueberry pancakes for breakfast so i made them for him with some special sprinkles. then we went to tim hortons and got timbits to bring to the gym for a small birthday celebration. the kids wore their birthday hats and brought hats for everyone else to wear.
we stopped home quick and then went to leaps n bounce for some bouncing and sliding! we were there for a few hours. rex discovered that he loves the big slide now. they must have climbed and slid down it about 50 times in a row! needless to say. they both took a good nap!!! when rex woke up, he was holding his belly and crying saying it hurt. he hadn't had any fruit and it caught up to him. he took a warm bath and that seemed to help. we went to brewpub for dinner but it was later than we wanted and the kids were tired and distracted. we quickly sang to rex when we got home and then it was time for bed!!!
