after fooling around in their room for two whole hours and not napping, the kids are playing. malloy's trying to make a "patterin" in the kitchen. (placing books along the floor and making a path to walk on). rex so badly wants to help her - she stands in the doorway and tries her hardest to redirect him somewhere else. she says "you sure gotta go in the hallway." she would gently lead him into the playroom. when he would try and resist she would push him. she replies, "i'm just swinging him". she must have done it again and she says "it's just like swinging" (meaning pushing is like swinging - my how positive!) rex actually stayed in the playroom - he must have found something more interesting than shadowing his sister! she yells into him from the kitchen, "you stay in there an play, ok baby?" he replies from the playroom "ok baby." LOL they have me laughing so hard at the moment!!! i'll take extra sillyness from not napping over the crankies anyday!!!

we had a fun morning playing at our friends, brooke and ben's, house! malloy was excited to play with brooke! they got along pretty well for the most part - they love to play with each other, but don't always get along the best. rex was being a bully and made both brooke and ben cry! in general i feel like my kids are well behaved, but there are times when i think "who are these little monsters?!" in his defense, rex was tired and was pushing everyone's buttons.

malloy was being so silly when she woke up from naps. making these crazy faces and then would laugh hysterically! i love when she wakes up happy!

i heard rex ask "why?" today!!!!! really?! he's only 19 months old!!! guess i have malloy to thank for that one!

malloy's new thing is to say "mommy" and when i say what she says "i love you". she does it about 5 times a day - i will not get annoyed with this!!!

malloy had school today - the touch tank from aquarium of niagara came today! she told me about the starfish she held. she said "his belly came out on my hand". her teacher informed me that she was not a fan of the crabs at all! 

 we had a pretty calm day at home after school. both kids napped today! we skyped with papa hank and roro this afternoon. today is papa hank's birthday! malloy was being shy at first and needed some help from me to sing him happy birthday. the kids love to skype but it's hard because they don't stay in one spot for too long!! 

the kids got to spend the weekend with neal while i had a girl's weekend away! they had a great time! they watched star wars and went out to dinner with uncle ryan and kari. it was nice to get away, but i missed my little loves! when i pulled up they were both at the window bouncing up and down with huge smiles! it was the best!

today, we went to the gym for the first time in over a week! the kids were good and had fun. i think that they were testing me a bit more than usual today. perhaps daddy was a little lax on the rules this weekend? ;) overall we had a pretty calm day.

malloy's new thing to do is give rex books at nap time and night time. i didn't realize that she gave him books today and he was still up an hour and 45 minutes after i put them down. he ended up not napping at all. malloy napped through all of rex's shenanigans. i had to have a long talk with malloy when she woke up about staying in bed and not giving rex books. she seemed to understand but i guess we'll see!

i surprised rex with a little toy story sticker and coloring book - we was VERY excited! his all time favorite is toy story at the moment. any time we're in the living room, he'll say "i want tv. buzz, woody."

i was on the floor doing some ab exercises since we didn't make it to the gym all week because of the kids ' colds. rex attacked me! he thought it was such a fun game! lesson learned...

we had a pretty low key day at home. just relaxed and played - mostly with squinkies. we got some outside time on the deck and if you watch the video, they needed it!!! crazy kids!!!

we had a busy morning! first, we stopped in at malloy's school for a parent teacher conference. the kids played in the room while i talked to the teacher. she said that she had no concerns at all with malloy and that she's confident that she would do just fine in a 4 year old program! she also said that malloy is very enthusiastic and pumps her classmates up for every activity. 

after the conference, we headed to skyzone. it was malloy's first time and she didn't even hesitate to go right up the stairs and start jumping away on the trampolines!  our friends, safina and emery, showed up while we were jumping! malloy was VERY excited to have a friend there.although, i'm not sure if she was more excited that safina was there, or that her dad, tony, was there! rex was clingy today and wanted me to hold him the entire time. at the end, malloy melted down - she was exhausted and wasn't feeling her best. she's got a cold and it's running her down. we went to wegmans and when we came back, she immediately went in her bed to take a nap. 

malloy woke up feeling better! while rex slept, we made black bean brownies and decorated the window for easter. when rex woke up we had to run back to wegmans to get sausage for dinner that i forgot. malloy fell in the parking lot and scraped up both of her knees. she was sobbing all the way into the store. i put some antibacterial spray and bandaids on it right off the rack in the store! 

malloy has a new bedtime routine. she puts on sunglasses so that she can check everyone's toes. it's so funny! tonight, rex wanted in on the sunglasses action. both kids wore them and fought when we took them off so they could lay down and go to sleep!

it got up to at least 80 degrees today. we have a fun morning playdate and picnic at the playground. it wiped the kids out! they fell asleep very quickly after laying down, which almost never happens! after nap, we went swimming again. it ended up in a mud puddle jumping extravaganza, but they had a blast! we came in and took a bath to wash off all the sunscreen and mud and then had dinner. all rex wants to eat right now is hot dogs. there happened to be one left over from last night. he at it cold while i was getting dinner ready. when it was time to sit down for dinner, rex threw a fit because he didn't want what we were having, he wanted more hot dogs. i let him cry and focused on malloy and he finally came around and started to eat his dinner. he had another meltdown when he needed to take one more bite before he could have some ice cream. he definitely understands everything that i say and got that he needed to take another bite. little stinker. he did take that last bite so he could have ice cream!

on a side note, i just want to mention that malloy is doing awesome with going poop on the potty. she now just goes in the bathroom and goes by herself. sometimes i don't even know she's going until she tells me that she went! i love it! way to go malloy!!! along potty lines, rex took his own diaper off tonight. i went upstairs to get the garbage and when i came back down, i found him standing there with a bare bottom! what a fun new trick!

it was a beautiful day today!! the high was around 77 degrees and we made the most of it. this morning, rex and i did some shopping while malloy was at school. we came home and all played and ate lunch on the deck until nap time. after nap, we went swimming!!! the water was a bit chilly and rex was not happy when ended up sitting in it, but they still had a fun time! uncle ryan came over and we grilled hot dogs and ate dinner out on the deck. you'd think that all this outside playing would exhaust the kids, but malloy was still up until 9 trying every excuse in the book for a little bit more attention!

when malloy was going to the bathroom today she said " i'm gonna freak out when i go pee pee" i asked her what she meant and she said "i don't know. i'm just gonna freak out". not sure she really understands what that means...

rex was being super cranky and whiny. i asked malloy what we should do with rex and she looked at me, shrugged her shoulders, and said "turn him into a puppy".
