we had a one hour delay this morning. the kids got to work playing spaceship!

 it was finally snowy enough and warm enough to go sledding! we went up to grandma and grandpa's and had a blast!!! this was the best sledding experience yet! rex is old enough to carry his sled up the hill on his own. they were sharing and taking turns with their sleds, riding together sometimes. there was no fighting or crying! amazing!! we went inside and had hot cocoa and the kids warmed up a bit before we went home for dinner.

the big, bad mouse!!

i was awoken this morning to rex's terrifying scream followed by "I SEE IT!" followed by hysteric sobs. neal was downstairs in the kitchen with him since he got up at 5am and wouldn't go back to sleep. he had seen a mouse peeking out from behind the stove! he refused to eat the rest of his breakfast and was horrified for the rest of the day, all the way up until bedtime, where he couldn't sleep because of the mouse. he's seen the mouse a few times but this time it looked at him and his "little black eyes" spooked him.

we had an indoor scavenger hunt after school. the kids had to find items that fit the descriptions. it was fun!!

in other news: malloy lost her fourth tooth!!!

we broke out battleship and played for the first time. the kids loved it! malloy's need for order made it easy for daddy and rex to figure out where her ships were!

gaming on sunday

it was nicer out on sunday, so the kids went out to practice basketball for a bit and then ride bikes. so good to get fresh air!

 grandpa came over for dinner on sunday. afterward, rex made up a game for them to play using dice and his bungee guys.

 malloy wanted to make up her own game, so we split up and played a bit more.

malloy designed her own hairstyle. 

aunt amy give the kids a bunch of books for christmas. we got into them and had a read-fest on monday night!

the kids had morning program this morning and usually i go to it, but it was for the hall of fame awards. this is a very crowded one because all of the families of the kids who are getting awards are there. i told the kids that i wasn't going to go because it's crowded and i didn't want to take a spot from someone else. they were both fine with it. at the end of the program, any kid can get up and introduce family members who came that morning. a while later, a parent from school who was at the awards ceremony told me that rex got up and said into the microphone "i'd introduce my mom, but she's at home." ha! thanks rex! 

we played some minute to win it games after school on tuesday. malloy loved it, rex had more fun making pirate faces with his sticker book. he jumped in once i put shaving cream on a shower cap and stuck it on my head!

 rex has been dry for the past 3 nights in a row and is even waking up in the middle of the night to go pee on his own! this is very exciting!!! also, this morning, he went upstairs on his own a few times. he's NEVER been able to go upstairs alone. this is huge progress!!! i don't know if it's because we're being more strict with his behavior, limiting tv/electronic time, increasing activity levels, and having him fall asleep on his own but something's working!!! hooray!!! there's some normalcy returning to our lives!
