indians

rex is fascinated by indians lately. not native americans but indians. he keeps asking "we all are part indian, right?" and "can indians speak our talk?" "i think i can speak indian". i have no idea where it came from but it's great. i think it's time to a trip to the library to get some books out on india!

weekend fun

friday, we went up to grandma and grandpa's for corn dogs for dinner and then we went to the depot for dessert and to see grandpa gary and melissa. they LOVE climbing on the train and playing hide and seek. we went home and tried to swim but it was a tad too chilly!! 

 saturday morning, malloy and i had a tea party with hot chocolate. she thought it was great that we could put real liquid in her tea set! when rex found out there was hot chocolate and marshmallows involved, he quickly joined us.

 after our tea party, malloy was teaching me how to be a princess. we needed crowns, fancy scarves, the right shoes, etc. she loves to teach!

 arts and crafts time! we made malloy's friend, addi, a birthday card with perler beads! it was so fun!

 saturday afternoon it was time to go to addi's birthday party! malloy wanted her hair to be half french braid and half fishtail braid - so we did it! we went to shipwreck mini-golf in cortland. it was such a fun place! malloy was very happy to see addi, especially since she moved away and doesn't go to malloy's school anymore :( they hugged for about 3 minutes straight when we got there! we played glow in the dark mini-golf, ate dinner, had cake and ice cream and then bounced in the bounce house. the kids were sweaty and exhausted when we left!!!

 we went to aunt kari and uncle ryan's on sunday to celebrate aunt kari's birthday and watch football. the kids played outside most of the time playing hide and seek. rex loves his bella so much!!! malloy does too but if there's a baby involved, forget it! she was glued to addy when she was inside!

BACK TO SCHOOL!!!

both kids were excited for the first day of school! rex was going for the cool look this year. apparently that means no smiling. 

they had a great day!! rex sat with connor at lunch (and on the bus) and played blocks with tyler and leland. he said he was laughing a lot because he was knocking down a girl block with tyler and it was funny. leland built a really cool and really big house with the blocks. 

malloy sat next to iris at lunch and got to play with eric, owen, and cecelia on the playground at recess. she also loved drinking jitter juice that mrs. ceruti gave them! 

second day went great as well. malloy was so excited to report that they don't need an aide in their classroom and they do everything themselves. at bedtime, rex told neal and then me separately all about the life cycle of a caterpillar and how it changes into a butterfly. he gave so much detail, even showed me how a caterpillar positions itself to make a cocoon (laying on his back with his arms and legs in the air). i'm so glad he's loving school and soaking it all in! he also loved PE - it was his first time ever and they got to play tag.

we took one last trip to visit friends in buffalo before school started. it was such a fun trip! both kids are great travelers and keep themselves busy with little squabbling - THANK YOU for that kiddos!

we found a fall tree on the way and played in the leaves for a few minutes.

the kids were so happy to be with friends! they ran all over, jumped on the trampoline, ran around some more and then danced their butts off! we drove around and picked up food for dinner, ate, jumped a bit more and then it was time for bed! everyone was asleep by 10pm but they were up at 4:30am!!! after a half hour, i made malloy come in and sleep with me. she was up for 3 hours tossing and turning, sighing and crying. she finally fell asleep around 7:30. ugh!!! 

the kids ran around in the morning until i couldn't stand it anymore! they did some puzzles and played with shopkins until it was time to go to branches! we spent the day there with gianna and kenadee. lots of swimming in the pool and the lake. they loved "catching" fish with buckets in the lake!! after a bit of crafts, we headed back home for dinner and an outdoor movie!!! our old friend, the warners, came over for the movie, too! it was great to catch up!!

after a bit better sleep, the kids played so well together the next morning!!! they were playing animal doctor and put on a show.

we had one more mini adventure before we said goodbye and went home! we went to the mall to ride some animals!! we had a blast!!!

malloy slept a bit in the van on the way home. rex slept for the last 5 minutes of the trip and then on the couch for over an hour. or more...he was passed out!!

we went to the Tomazin's for dinner. malloy was loving the time with julianna and informed me that she "needed one of these". oh boy!

we were having a labor day picnic later in the day. daddy kept the kids busy with some science experiments!

the kids put on quite a performance  after they swam lipsyncing to petatonix. they're hysterical!!!

the kids went to meet the teacher and got to see the classroom and who was in their class. rex was being super shy and didn't want to stay. malloy went up to find her classroom and chat with mrs. ceruti. she got to see where her desk is, who was in her class and asked about the morning routine. once she was clear on the details, she was good to go!!! she made her teacher a card and was so excited to give it to her!

we read our kindergarten books and went to bed excited for school the next day!!
